The difference between potting silica gel condensation type and addition molding

Condensation type
Condensed silica gel is cured by absorbing atmospheric moisture during the curing process, and cannot be heated to accelerate the curing (excessive heat during curing will cause bad luck). Generally, a small amount of by-products will occur during the curing process. These two elements indicate that condensation curing can only be carried out when the compound is open to the atmosphere. Sealing into the closed space before curing is complete will have an adverse effect. This chemical is commonly used in one-component sealants, coating glues and 1&2 component potting sealants.
One-component condensation silicone (RTV) is not suitable for applications with a thickness of more than 10mm, because it will cure to form a waterproof barrier and prevent the curing of the silicone at the bottom of the shell.
One-component RTV silica gel is cured into elastomers with a variety of cross-linking agents. These cross-linking agents will produce by-products, some of which can cause damage to sensitive electronic parts. Therefore, we advocate the use of dealcoholized and tow-ketone one-component RTV silicone as packaging materials.
Recovery:-Condensation type curing silica gel using organotin curing agent can chemically differentiate and recover to a liquid shape in a specific environment. When the silica gel is placed in a completely sealed container and continues to be heated at a high temperature for a long time (for example, 6 months@60℃ or 6 months@90℃), the recovery process will begin. If the rubber is exposed to the atmosphere in some way, recovery will not happen, but high temperature resistance (up to 300°C) is possible.
Addition molding
Addition curing silicone is cured with platinum curing agent, and no by-products will occur during the curing process. Once the curing agent is added, they will complete the curing by themselves, even in a closed container, without opening to the atmosphere to proceed. Two-component addition molding silicone can be cured at room temperature, if necessary, it can also be heated to accelerate the curing speed and will not have any adverse effects on the cured gel. One-component addition molding silicone generally requires heating to cure.
Platinum curing agents are susceptible to infection when certain chemicals are attacked and have a counterproductive effect. They will inhibit curing and cause incomplete curing. The uncured rubber material should avoid contact with the following chemicals during the mixing process or the production process: nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, arsenic, organic tin curing agent, PVC stabilizer, epoxy curing agent, vulcanized rubber and condensation silicone (note Dealcoholized RTV silicone will not cause non-curing).
Addition type silica gel also requires a good chemical balance to reach the proper physical properties of the cured colloid. Therefore, before weighing out, the two components of A&B must be completely mixed evenly. At the same time, the correct mixing ratio is also very important. Because A&B is generally produced as a complete set, it is not recommended to mix two different batches of rubber materials.
